Leverkusen, Germany – Covestro has announced plans to increase capacity for TPU and other films at four locations worldwide.
Expansions will happen at Map ta Phut, Thailand; Guangzhou, China; South Deerfield, Massachusetts; and Dormagen, Germany.
'We are investing in promising technologies and applications,' said Markus Steilemann, CEO.
'We want to expand our film production as quickly as possible to meet growing regional demands,' added Michael Friede, head of Covestro's coatings, adhesives and sealants division.
A new co-extrusion facility come on line at Map ta Phut in 2019. In Guangzhou, the company is converting a co-extrusion line. In a second phase, capacity will be expanded.
Debottlenecking is underway in South Deerfield, said Covestro. The company added that it is building a new co-extrusion line in Dormagen. This is scheduled to come on stream in 2020, and follows an expansion in 2017.
