Leslie, Michigan - Huron Technologies says extensive laboratory testing and validation have established that its new mould release agent, Formula 7925, is "a superior paste wax for composite moulded parts."
Formula 7925 is a blend of Carnauba wax and high-performance synthetic polymers which acts as a release agent for polyester and fibreglass on all fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) tooling, high-pressure laminates, metal, and other hard surface moulds.
Huron says the mould-release agent is recommended for a variety of applications including:
* Resin transfer moulding (RTM);
* Polyurethane or polyester or open moulding hand lay-ups and spray-ups;
* Vacuum bag moulding; and
* Compression moulding.
It is designed for use at mould temperatures from 70-200°F (21-93°C), and gives consistent release with minimal build up, with potential for a streak-free high gloss finish after polishing, said Huron.
The agent is available in paste wax cans and 5 gallon pail containers.
Huron Technologies makes release agents for polyurethane systems, elastomers, composites and concrete, providing a wide range of off-the-shelf release agents as well as custom mould-release agents to meet specific customer requirements.
