Johannesburg, South Africa – Multotec has consolidated several injection moulded polyurethane screening media factories into a single facility in Kempton Park, near Johannesburg airport. The ZAR100m ($500m) 7000m2 plant is close to its current main facility.
The site houses the tool room and production facility, as well as offices and warehouses. Two new PU injection moulding machines will boost capacity by a quarter. The facility largely works on a make-to-order basis, and the company said the changes should improve lead times.
The plant has improved material flow, with consolidated raw material storage facilities. It has also been designed with a view to digitising a large part of its workflow in the future, including allowing additional space around machinery to enable the installation of further equipment later on.
The company produces injection-moulded PU screening media products for mining operations across southern and west Africa, as well as markets in Australia and the Americas.
