Vienna, Austria – Austrian foamer Neveon has teamed up with Brantner Green Solutions to launch Austria’s first mattress recycling company, Loop-It. First announced in July 2024, the JV has now been formally established. It is designed to fill the gap that exists in the Austrian mattress market, help keep raw materials in circulation and, in the future, tap into new material flows.

According to the report Zirkuläre Matratzen, more than a million used mattresses are disposed of in Austria every year. As well as wasting precious raw materials, this releases about 150kT/year of CO2, with about 25kT of CO2 being generated via incineration. The country has yet to introduce an extended producer responsibility scheme for its recycling infrastructure.
Loop-It, based in Krems an der Donau, will collect, dismantle and mechanically recycle used mattresses, collaborating with partners such as waste collection centres. Neveon will then process by manufacturers including Neveon into high-value composite foam products, including carpet underlay and sound insulation.
“At Neveon, we are fully aware of our corporate responsibility,” said Jürgen Kleinrath, CEO of Neveon. “Like our parent company Greiner, we are committed to becoming a fully circular business. We see mattress recycling – and the founding of Loop-It – as a key step toward a sustainable circular economy.”
