Selby, United Kingdom -- Building materials firm Saint-Gobain has announced plans to invest £20m (EUR26m) in a production facility to produce Celotex’s PIR insulation panels.

The new one production line facility will be located next to Saint-Gobain’s Glass manufacturing facility in Eggborough, Selby, 23 miles east of Leeds. Production is due to begin in Spring of 2017, the company.

The project has yet to be approved by Selby District Council.  Saint-Gobain said the development will create up to 50 skilled jobs and a further 50 in its local supplier and contractor network.

Mike Chaldecott, general delegate for Saint-Gobain in the UK & Ireland, said:  “Celotex has continued to go from strength to strength in the last few years and we’re delighted to continue to invest in the business to enable Celotex to meet the growing needs of its customers and the increasing demand in the market for innovative, high-performing insulation.”

The plans will make use of an existing Saint-Gobain site.

Saint-Gobain acquired Celotex in 2012, as previously reported at UTECH-polyurethane.com. Celotex currently operates two manufacturing lines from its site in Hadleigh, Suffolk.

The company is based in Courbevoie, France and had 2013 sales of EUR42 bn.
