Midland, Michigan -- Dow Polyurethanes in cooperation with Cannon SpA, will officially launch Pascal technology on 9 Sept at the Shanghai Summit 2011.
Pascal is a new polyurethane foam insulation technology that improves energy efficiency of refrigerators and freezers by up to 10 percent, Dow said in a 9 Sept announcement.
The technology was first featured in household refrigerators and freezers by Haier and is now commercially available to appliance manufacturers.
"China is one of the largest single-home marketplaces for refrigeratorsand freezers, as well as a leading global export country, and Pascaltechnology can help support the goals of making China's industrialdivisions more sustainable for the future," commented Bruno Barbet, Dow Polyurethanes global appliance market leader.
Combining proprietary polyurethane foam specifically formulated for this application, Pascal doubles the efficiency of insulation while continuing to provide thermal conductivity and adhesion, according to Dow.
The Shanghai Summit is a collaborative event between the Chinese and Italian governments to discuss sustainability and economic growth.
