Duzce, Turkey — Turkish PU manufacturer Kimpur has commenced construction on a new PU factory in Duzce, in the north west of Turkey. The factory is part of an investment by Kimpur of TRY 250 million ($14.9m) and will enable the firm to produce an additional 65,000 tonnes of combined products per year.
PU systems will be the majority of this output, at some 50,000 tonnes, with EVA granules and polyester polyols making up the balance with 10,000 and 5,000 tonnes respectively, according to information obtained by local business daily Dunya.
The new production facility will be in the Duzce organised industrial zone.
Earlier this year Kimpur unveiled plans to increase its production and the company launched an initial public offering (IPO) on the Borsa Istanbul stock exchange. The IPO on 28 April valued the company at TRY 957m (€53.7m), according to figures from Borsa Istanbul.
Cavidan Karaca, chief executive of Kimpur, said the company produced 88,000 tonnes of PU products last year. The manufacturer’s objective for 2022 is to exceed a total output of 100,000 tonnes of PU products. She added that Kimpur is making efforts to increase export sales after suffering falling sales through the pandemic.
'The share of exports in our revenues fell to 27%. We want to increase it to 40% again. We export our products to about 45 countries,' said Karaca.
The Turkish PU producer supplies its output to various industries, its portfolio including products for the footwear industry, flexible foams, rigid foams and other products.
