By Liz White, UT staffSpring Lake, New Jersey-Commercial Thermal Solutions Inc. has added a portable, disposable foam-insulation kit to its products. The Spring Lake -based firm said, with its Tiger Foam range, "Safe chemicals now make it available to the homeowner and do-it-yourselfer." Tiger Foam is a two-component closed-cell polyurethane foam insulation system, which provides air-sealing and waterproofing to homes, as well as superior insulation. It is completely self-contained, for use by home owners, building repairers and others, who can, "enjoy benefits of foam insulation without having to purchase spray machines or hire outside contractors," the supplier says. "Polyurethane foam insulation has long been recognised as the insulation with the most R-Value per inch of any commonly available insulation product for the building industry and applications," Commercial Thermal Solutions adds. What has allowed the Tiger Foam to be offered to the general public is the introduction of water-based blowing agents and environmentally friendly fire retardants, said the firm. It describes its kits as "easy to use" without special equipment. They need no power supply to operate, which CTS says, "makes them especially useful in remote areas for the insulation of cabins and hunting or fishing structures." As well as competitive pricing, the kits are available to remodeler and DIY market in less densely populated areas of the US and Canada "where professional foam contractors with the large spray rigs are simply not present," the firm's press statement points out.
