Brussels – Isopa has updated its environmental performance data for polyols, MDI and TDI with the Plastics Europe Eco-Profiles methodology.
The European Diisocyanate & Polyol Producers Association (ISOPA) said the development is designed to help users of MDI, TDI and polyols 'make up-to-date estimates of the environmental performance of their products as part of the full lifecycle assessment'.
The reports include environmental performance parameters, and additional technical, economic and environmental health information. As well as the update, there are lifecycle inventories in International Reference Life Cycle Data Systems (ILCD) and Gabi formats to allow lifecycle analysts to update their data in widely used tools and databases. This change means that the new and old data are not comparable. Comparisons are also impossible because ISOPA membership has changed.
A major change in methodology is the allocation of burden to hydrochloric acid, which is a by-product of diisocyanate production.
