Udine, Italy -- Israeli designer Ron Arad has designed a new "pixelated" pillar-like sofa using flame-retardant polyurethane foam and polyester fibrefill pillars.
The London-based designer created the Do-Lo-Rez sofa for Moroso, an Italian furniture company. The sofa uses different densities of moulded polyurethane foam, which is also manufactured in Italy. The blocks can be arranged in a number of different ways (see picture), and are attached to a wooden base. Steel pins at the base of each foam block fit securely into the wooden base.
According to Moroso's website, Arad is currently professor of Product Design at the Royal College of Art in London.
