Leslie, Michigan -- A new water-based release agent for polyurethane moulded products using in-mould paint, Release Coating 7840, provides consistently cleaner moulds with less build up on the surface, delivering extended cycles before cleaning, claims developer Huron Technologies Inc.
Huron says that, with proper mould care, aluminium moulds can be used for more than 300 cycles before thorough cleaning is required.
Automotive steering wheels, handles, office furniture and interior trim components are typical polyurethane in mould paint products which benefit from the new release technology.
Lasting benefits of Release Coating 7840 include:
* Minimal build up from a unique blend of wax and silicone
* Smooth, defect free parts at mould temperatures from 110 - 145°F (43 - 62°C).
* More parts moulded per gallon - spray application of 20-30 g/min is sufficient for most in-mould painted parts.
The new material reduces the amount of release agent needed, and makes the moulding process more cost effective.
Huron also has another new mould release agent specifically designed for OEM and aftermarket filters. Release Coating
7833 is formulated to give multiple release from aluminium moulds in flexible integral skin uses. Fast, comprehensive coverage of the mould area and quick evaporation saves moulders time, so raising productivity.
