Bondues, France -- Telene SAS has launched a family of high-performance dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) based formulations.
Branded Telene 1800, the firm says these are two-component-systems, using the same monomers as traditional, reaction injection moulding oriented Telene grades but based on a different catalysts. The grades offer low viscosity (from 170 to 330 mPa.s) and highly adjustable curing time. The first two commercially available grades Telene 1810 and 1811 allow for flexible production, from simple hand pouring to low-pressure machine casting.
The new catalyst overcomes sensitivity to oxygen or water and the systems offer products with a, paintable surface finish. It is possible to mould large and complex parts: weighing 15 kg and more. In addition, highly 3-dimensional parts including, over-moulded inserts .
In addition parts needing impact resistance, and resistance to: hot and very cold temperatures, corrosive environments and, high pressure can be made with the new material, Telene said.
