Detroit, Michigan - Canada's Woodbridge Group says its interior soft trim components offer better comfort, fit and finish, and differentiation for today's stylised vehicle interiors.
The Woodbridge TrimTech line gives a "a noticeable feeling of soft, luxurious touch points, in many of the vehicles that were displayed at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS)," said the company.
The range covers head restraints, armrests, door panel pads, bolsters, consoles, steering wheels, grab handles and shift knobs.
Woodbridge says it offers a solutions-driven approach, optimising trim development and foam formulation, with industry-leading tooling, sampling and manufacturing. "The TrimTech business unit has developed several new technologies, engineered to offer customers more design flexibility than ever, while improving overall comfort," said Ed Salvador, senior product manager for interior parts with Woodbridge, in a press release.
A dual-hardness head restraint enhances comfort while reducing components and cost, with technology that eliminates the topper pad and non-value added labour, while improving craftsmanship, providing crisper perimeter definition and targeting firmness in a one-step manufacturing process.
Also, alternative trim technologies offer "natural looking, durable, Class A surface treatments, over an adjustable firmness foam core, in a one-piece design," the company says. The three treatment options include spray skin, integral skin and vacuum form vinyl processes, to offer a more affordable alternative to secondary trim operations. These are an ideal solution for complex styling challenges, the company said.
For ultra-thin profile parts with improved comfort, fit and finish a high-resilience foam is engineered for sleek interior components and provides a more luxurious feel, even in very small package spaces, such as consoles and door panel pads.
Also, foam-in-place capabilities address the challenges of components with complex geometries and tight dimensional tolerances. This advanced foam process offers solutions for: deep draw contours, vertical walls, sharp corners and edges, concave, convex and undercut shapes, foam-in-place over large inserts, foam injection without venting and no twist trim.
TrimTech products are offered in foam-in-place, foam and assembly and foam-only options.
