Food security is a growing issue in India. The new technology park is designed to show how modern technology can help reduce crop wastage. For example, it contains cold rooms designed with polyurethane insulation to keep the produce at ambient temperature, increasing shelf life.
India is one of the world's the largest food producers. But, almost 40% of agricultural produce is spoiled before it reaches the consumer. This is largely due to failure along the cold chain and poor warehouse conditions. The group added that poor harvesting techniques and lack of support to farmers also contribute to food wastage.
