Belvidere, Illinois — Yanfeng Automotive Interiors (YFAI) will open a new $28.1m (EUR 25.1) manufacturing facility in Belvidere, Illinois, to support Fiat Chrysler.
Due to open in 2017, the move will create 400 jobs.
The company will supply interior cockpit components to the Jeep Cherokee, which will be built at the Fiat Chrysler US Belvidere assembly plant.
Nathan Bowen, vice president and general manager, Americas, Yanfeng Automotive Interiors: "We are pleased to be a part of the Belvidere community and support Fiat Chrysler in the production of the Jeep Cherokee.”
In July 2016, the firm announced its intention to open an auto interior components plant in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, with an estimated $71 m capital investment.
That plant, according to YFAI, will supply BMW US operations with interior components, including door panels, instrument panels and floor consoles for several models, as UTECH-polyurethane reported at the time.
