Oregon, US – Nike has teamed up with shoe 3D printing specialists Zellerfeld to create the Air Max 1000. The new shoe is 3D-printed in TPU.
The company said it has reimagined the Air Max 1 by pairing creatives and innovators with advanced digital tools. The new slip-on design was created using the filament material extrusion process.
“As an innovator, what’s most exciting to me about the Air Max 1000 are the new solutions we can achieve with next-level manufacturing,” said John Hoke, Nike’s chief innovation officer. “It’s control, times precision, times expression – all of which are vital to sport and to design. When those variables of control, precision and expression are multiplied at once, the future of our product really does feel unlimited.”
The shoe featured at ComplexCon in Las Vegas, where presented a range of innovations in sport and sneaker design. Visitors to the Nike stand had the opportunity to win a pair of the shoes.
