Wadsworth, Ohio -- BASF Polyurethane Foam Enterprises llc has partnered with fire-retardant specialist No-Burn Inc. to successfully meet ignition barrier requirements under the International Building code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC) for some of its polyurethane foam insulation products.
A 3 Feb statement from Ohio, US-based No-Burn said BASF's rigid, open-cell PU foam plastic insulation Enertite US, as well as is closed-cell PU insulation products Spraytite 178, Walltite US, Walltite US-N and Comfort Foam 178 can now be used in attics and crawl spaces if the No-Burn Plus intumescent coating is applied.
No-Burn president, Bill Kish, said the intumescent coating offers a "practical and economically attractive option for meeting ignition barrier requirements." No-Burn Plus intumescent paint has end-uses including application as a fire-protection measure over wood, gypsum wallboard, and a range of other paintable surfaces, the statement said. (RD)"
