Hamburg, Germany – Chemical distributor Nordmann is to distribute Cilbond bonding agents from HB Fuller in Germany. These one-coat bonding agents bond both rubber and polyurethane elastomers to a variety of substrates, including steel, aluminium, thermoplastics, fabrics, glass fibres and ceramics.

HB Fuller says the bonding agents enable allow engineers to combine the different material properties of urethane, rubber, plastic, metal and fabric when developing industrial components. Combining materials can confer benefits such as flexibility, strength, abrasion and chemical resistance, cost and weight, it said.

The product range includes single-layer systems, and two layer systems that combine a primer and a cover. Both solvent-based and waterborne products are available. They are made in the US-headquartered company’s facility in Preston, UK.

Applications include anti-vibration components, coil coatings, bridge bearings, seals and gaskets. They can also be used, among many other applications, in lining pumps, breaks and industrial tanks, plus pressure rollers and stators.

“Many of our customers will benefit greatly from the company’s products, especially those who no longer want to work with large amounts of VOCs for sustainability reasons, or who need to cut down on solvents due to stricter legal requirements,” said Jan Büker, technical sales & product manager at Nordmann. “With HB Fuller at our side, we can offer them innovative solutions and more environmentally friendly single-coat or two-coat systems based on water with minimal VOCs.”
