Duluth, Georgia -- Nordson Corp. has introduced a liquid dispensing system called Unity which it says offers "easy handling and accurate dispensing of heated and ambient materials," for a wide variety of assembly and sealing applications.
Nordson said Unity dispensers are ideal for bonding, sealing, encapsulation, gasketing and attachment in many uses, giving examples of mobile phones, batteries and power cells, and medical device manufacturing.
Expanding on this theme, Frank Burkus, Nordson global business development manager said in a company statement, "Specifically, introduction of Unity dispensers has allowed several major cell phone manufacturers to significantly differentiate themselves even during this tight economy."
"In an ever-increasingly competitive global environment, Unity systems deliver production flexibility while optimising material usage," Burkus continued.
Unity systems offer consistent, controlled dispensing of high-performance materials, such as polyurethanes, from 30 cc syringes and 294 ml cartridges. Duluth-based Nordson said Unity systems "minimise residual waste of adhesives and substrates by offering accurate application of adhesive over extended work times."
According to Nordson, Unity systems are designed for simple integration into existing production processes. They range from hand-held dispensers to complete robot workstations, and offer a variety of nozzle and needle sizes to accommodate a continuing trend toward miniaturisation in production, the company said.
With Unity systems, users gain design flexibility ideal "for smaller, more intricate production designs that could not be achieved by bulky or unwieldy conventional tapes or mechanical fasteners," said Nordson. They are designed to handle a broad range of high-performance adhesives that allow bonding of a variety of dissimilar material substrates - plastics, metals and glass - to further enhance design windows.
