Novara, Italy - The board of directors of sustainable chemistry company Novamont SpA has appointed Gunter Pauli chairman of the company by unanimous decision.
Pauli will take the head of the company, which launched a joint venture with Genomatica in January to make polyurethane precursor butanediol from renewable feedstocks.
Novamont said in an 18 June news release that Pauli is "an entrepreneur, economist and author", known as the theorist behind the Blue Economy, a sustainable economy developed on the logics of nature, a perfectly integrated system without waste or dissipation of resources.
"Pauli's is an enlightened vision harmonising perfectly with the philosophy which has always inspired Novamont," said Catia Bastioli, Novamont's CEO. "We are certain that his wisdom and far-sightedness will be a great boost to the company in its future developments and consolidate our leadership in the Bioeconomy sector."
