Looking at the largest markets, sales in Germany were down 31.7% in November at 198,000 registrations. This kept the year-to-date figures in negative territory. Sales so far are down 8.1% on 2020.
In the UK, year-to-date sales were up 2.7% at 116,000 cars in the month. This number is up by 1.7% on the same month in 2020.
In France, the year-to-date registrations rose by 2.5%, with a total of 1.50 m units sold there. In November, this year 122,000 vehicles were sold.
Spanish sales were down by 12.3% in the month, at 66,000 units. The year-to-date total is 773,000 units, 3.8% higher than the sales total at this time last year.
Meanwhile, in Italy sales were down by 24.6% in November, at 104,000 units. A total of 1.37m vehicles have been sold there in the year to date.
The European automotive market has grown by 0.3% so far in 2021 to 9.73m units, up from 9.70m units at this stage in the previous year.
