Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu – OSiC Performance Materials started up its second site with a polyurethane additive plant on 19 September.
The plant broke ground in 2018 and began its trial run last year. OSiC has pumped CNY300m ($44m) investment into the plant, which has 18kT/year capacity for silicone surfactant and 2kT/year for waterborne adhesives, said the company.
The 40,000 m2 site is located at Yangtze River International Chemical Industrial Park in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, 100km from Shanghai, where its first site was built. The new site also has a 5,0002 laboratory designed for a 50-member research team.
‘This world-class plant is a milestone for OSiC,’ said the company’s chairman Zhang Haoming at the inauguration ceremony. ‘[It] will ease the supply shortage at our Shanghai plant and better serve our customers.’
OSiC’s Shanghai plant has 6kT/year capacity. Its two sites produces additives for PU foam and coatings, as well as PU adhesives.
