The new site will also include a national research centre. This will focus on areas such as application testing. It will hold training programs designed for downstream manufacturers.
OSiC showcased its patented metal complex catalyst at PU China. It also displayed a range of new products, such as a surfactant that increases foam hydrophilicity and breathability. The product targets outdoor sports facilities and furniture, such as beach chair. It is designed to make them more comfortable and easier to wash, said Zhang.
OSiC’s besting selling product last year was an additive which makes it possible to export high resilience foams. The most efficient way to transport the foam over long distances is to compress it first. But the foam can take some time to rebound when it is needed.
‘Some foam makers have been raising feedstock quantities to solve the resilience problem,’ said Zhang. ‘With our additive there’s no need for such waste.’
