Jhajjar, India – Panasonic announced in December it is to start local production of refrigerators in India, according to a press release.
Located in Technopark in Jhajjar, Haryana, adjacent to Panasonic’s existing appliance facilities, the new refrigerator factory has a 500,000 unit/year capacity and is scheduled to start operation in November 2017.
With investment estimated between INR 115 and 250 crore ($17m-$37m), the plant will manufacture fridges featuring energy saving and long-lasting freshness. Sales to the local market is expected to commence in April 2018.
The company is also setting up a research and development center for appliances at the same site to accelerate product development and localization, said the press release.
