Msida, Malta -- Panta Contracting Overseas Ltd, a subsidiary of Maltese group Panta Lesco Ltd, has gained a Euro 15-million ($19.3 million) project for the World Islamic Call Society's entertainment centre in Gurgi, Libya.
This project covers an area of 250 000 sq.m -- equivalent to eight football pitches -- and is one of Panta Lesco's largest projects to date, said an announcement from the group. The Libyan centre will contain offices and clinics as well as a small hotel.
Panta Lesco is currently in the process of meeting the building's extensive mechanical and electrical equipment requirements, and said the project requires "a vast amount of materials due to its large dimension."
Materials include 52 000 sq.m of polyurethane ductwork, and 51 km of piping for chilled water, fire-fighting, domestic water, soil and rainwater systems.
Libyan-registered Panta Contracting Overseas, set up in 2005, says it has been involved in landmark buildings such as the BAB Africa Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli and the luxury Palm City Residential Complex in Janzour.
"This particular project in Tripoli has been of great significance to the company since it is one of the largest projects we have been involved in," Henry Attard, chairman of the Panta Lesco Group said, in the company's announcement.
