Chattanooga, Tennessee - Two US companies, Pathway Polymers Inc. and Urethane Holdings, are merging their businesses in tyre fill and flatproofing parts. The deal will "create one of the world's most complete one-stop shop for tyre fill and other flatproofing products," said a 30 June statement from Vita Group, owner of Pathway.
Urethanes Holdings will contribute its shares to a new UK-incorporated company, Pathway Holdings Ltd, and Vita Group's Vita Investments North America Ltd will also contribute its shares in Pathway Polymers to the new business, which will operate under the name Pathway Polymers.
The new business will have sales of over $50 million and employ more than 50 people.
Urethane Holdings currently holds the patents for 'Recycler' tyre-fill machines to deliver tyre fill to tyres and wheel assemblies for both lightweight and heavyweight tyres. These tyre-fill machines and the company's additional range of tyre sealants and puncture-protection products will enable Pathway Polymers to offer "one of the largest complete lines of flatproofing products and tyre-fill machines in the industry," said the statement.
These machines offer commercial tyre dealers and OEMs advanced tyre fill technology, said Vita's statement, adding that, most importantly, it offers a way to "significantly reduce the cost of flatproofing a tyre and wheel assembly with a market tested and proven product."
"There are significant synergies between the companies," with benefits from combining the products, the patented tyre-fill machine technology and marketing knowledge of both companies, said Nigel Hay, chairman of Pathway Polymers & ceo of the Compounding Division of the Vita Group, in the statement.
Also, as part of its Tyrfil range, Pathway Polymers has developed a proprietary tyre fill for use in UH's patented AutoFill 'Recycler' and TrioFill 'Recycler' machines.
Hay added that Pathway Polymers will continue to "aggressively market and develop" its other well known brands, including Por-A-Thane, Por-A-Mold and Por-A-Kast urethane products.
