Rome, Italy -- The Polyurea Development Association (PDA) Europe has elected its first female president at its seventh annual conference.
Elisabet Michelson stepped into the role following a recommendation from outgoing president Carles Royo and consultation between PDA board members.
Michelson, who has also previously been named Norwegian Businesswoman of the Year, is general manager of Norwegian sprayed coatings supplier Elmico.
Michelson told Urethanes Technology International magazine she was keen to encourage greater collaboration between all the supply chain elements within polyurea projects so as to ensure their success.
At the close of the conference, Michelson told delegates she would do her "best to continue support and provide information to the polyurea industry, including designers, in order to continue with the education.
"I am sure the board and I will continue with the good work that has been done so far."
Recalling the first PDA conference in 2007, Michelson said: "I announced that I was in love with polyurea and bridges. This fiance of mine and this engagement has turned into a marriage and I very proud of that.
"Polyurea has turned out to be the right man for me, the really perfect man because he is nice looking, intelligent and strong but flexible, even at low temperatures.
"He is not brittle and he is fast which means he can multi-task and if there should be crack in this marriage, then again, we have the polyurea crack bridging."
In conclusion, she said polyurea was even more beautiful at seven years older but she added: "The beauty of this man can only continue if we treat him right and I think this is the topic that we have to discuss because if we do not then it could be a big problem to remove him."
