Peak launches China’s first 3D-printed polyurethane sneakers
The model, named The Future, is priced at CNY 1,299 ($191). “This pair of sneakers is the latest outcome of Peak’s innovation strategy. We aim to build Peak into China’s most international, professional and innovative sports brand,” said the company’s chief executive Xu Zhihua at the press conference.
Peak has been working with Beijing’s 3D printing firm E-Plus-3D to develop relevant technologies. The sneakers’ insole is moulded with TPU powder using selective laser sintering technology, which maintains the hardness needed for jogging and meanwhile provides flexibility and resilience.
The insole’s lattice structure also adds to its pressure reduction and relief properties, said the press release.
