Dubai, UAE – Pearl Group is now using tamper-proof labels on its products to combat counterfeiting. The drum-specific QR codes on the labels enable full trackability and traceability for its polyurethane systems.
The QR codes will allow both customers and distributors to verify the authenticity of the drums. Pearl said that labels on counterfeit products are commonly copied, and this will make fake drums easier to identify. Holograms on the labels add a further layer of security.
Poor quality counterfeit PU systems can result in products with poor performance and durability, the company said, with safety risks increased as they may fail in critical applications. Substandard materials may also lead to environmental hazards.
“Counterfeit polyurethane products and systems not only compromise the safety and performance of applications but also fall short of meeting the stringent sustainability standards Pearl has set,” said Isac Newton, plant manager at the largest of Pearl’s UAE production sites. “Our commitment to environmental stewardship is at the core of our operations, ensuring our products contribute to a sustainable future. Counterfeits, lacking these considerations, pose a significant threat to our collective efforts to protect the planet and meet net-zero targets.”
