Dubai – Pearl Polyurethane Systems (Pearl) has launched a polyurea-based spray coating system, DuraPearl Elastomer System, which it claims can be customised for extreme climatic conditions.
The UAE-based systems house says its polyurea product is up to four times stronger, and 98% more flexible than epoxy systems. DuraPearl is intended for use by spray coating contractors for waterproofing, joint sealing, truck bed lining, and pipeline and floor coating projects. Pearl says its polyurea-based spray products cure up to six times faster than epoxy alternatives.
The company also claims that DuraPearl has a combination of strength and flexibility that makes it longer lasting than epoxy because of its greater elasticity – so that it doesn’t crack or peel – and therefore gives it greater resistance to climatic and chemical damage, while also having low emissions in the production process, and leaching low VOC in operational conditions.
Ilhan Kurt, head of research and development at Pearl said: “We’re excited by our new DuraPearl product as it increases availability of next generation, polyurea-based coating systems for the international coatings industry. Not only are they more durable, but also quicker curing, meaning applicator teams can handle more projects improving their bottom line and end-customers can accelerate the completion dates of their projects. To meet growing demand – with more applicators making the switch – we have ramped up production at our Dubai-based plant to ensure ample supplies are available for export to clients globally.
Pearl says the new product is produced according to ISO 9001 and 14001 standards and can be customised to the needs of most project types.
