Texas, US – Perma-Pipe has opened its largest production facility for pre-insulated pipes outside its North American home. The new Abu Dhabi plant means the company now has 14 sites in six countries.
The six hectare plant was constructed to meet the growing demand for the district cooling and oil & gas industries in the Middle East. The company said it includes technology that enables the manufacture of environmentally friendly products.
Products made at the new facility include Xtru-Therm and Poly-Therm pre-insulated pipe systems. Xtru-Therm pipes have spray-applied polyurethane foam insulation and an HDPE outer jacket, while Poly-Therm pipes include a fibreglass-reinforced outer jacket and polyisocyanurate foam insulation.
“This new development is not specific to the UAE only,” said David Mansfield, Perma-Pipe’s president and CEO. “It is an export hub to serve projects all over the world. We now have a factory that [has] the capacity to respond to the growing demand. We have every reason to believe that the demand for clean energy, such as LNG and hydrogen, will continue to grow in the years to come.”
