Warrington, UK -- Speciality chemicals company Perstorp has doubled production capacity at its Capa caprolactone plant in Warrington, UK.
The company, which says it is the world's largest producer of capralactone, has doubled capacity in response to the "rapidly growing demand" for caprolactones worldwide, according to a 6 Sept news release.
Perstorp said it has taken steps to secure long-term availability by investing in a second Capa stream at its Warrington plant.
Capa caprolactones offer "improved process ability and lower VOC levels" due to their low viscosity, Perstorp said.
"We are very committed to supporting the market for high end niche products that can be enhanced through the use of caprolactones," says Bob Wasson, sales and business development director Asia.
He added, "Now that the second stream is in operation I'm really looking forward to working more closely with the business here in Asia. This is where we believe the greatest growth potential for caprolactones exists."
Caprolactones are widely used in applications such as resin modification, waterborne polyurethane dispersion coatings, cast elastomers and hot-melt adhesives.
