Kuala Lumpur - The business section of the Malaysia Star website is reporting that Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has shut down a number of its petrochemical plants in Kerith, Terengganu and Gebeng, Pahang.
The Malaysia Star said plants closing include a BPC butanediol complex which is run jointly with German chemical company BASF AG and an ethylene oxide and ethylene glycol plant, a joint venture with the Dow Chemical Co.
The Star also reports that BASF has brought forward maintenance on six of its 12 plants operated under its joint venture with Petronas.
