Blum said: “Energy efficiency is a no-brainer. It saves money and reduces emissions, both of greenhouse gasses and harmful particulates. Energy efficiency is by far the cheapest and fastest way to reduce carbon emissions as we try to rein in climate change.”
Blum also praised the Maryland Public Service Commission which has directed the state’s electricity companies to “keep cutting electricity usage by the equivalent of 2% of their retail sales from 2020 at the latest.”
He continued: “A 2% target is ambitious but attainable. This target places Maryland squarely in the top five states in the US in terms of energy efficiency alongside Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont and Oregon,” Blum added.
