Pittsburgh, Kansas - The Kansas Polymer Research Center (KPRC) at Pittsburgh State University (PSU) has honoured its corporate partner Cargill Inc. by officially naming one of its laboratories the Cargill Laboratory.
The official naming ceremony was held 28 May, 2009, at PSU's Tyler Research Center and was attended by representatives of Cargill. PSU and Cargill have been partners since 2003, when the two signed a joint development agreement in the pursuit of research towards the development of soya-based polyols for the polyurethanes industry.
The agreement, which still has two years left to run, has led to the development of a new line of soy-polyols, which are being marketed and sold globally. In six years, Cargill has contributed nearly $5 million for KPRC research efforts, the statement said.
"The partnership between Cargill and the KPRC has flourished for all these years because of the mutual respect that exists between our team and PSU," said Cargill business unit manager Yusuf Wazirzada, who spoke at the event along with PSU president Tom Bryant. (RD)
