    Cape Town, South Africa -- BASF Polyurethanes says its Pure Polyurea spray-on coating has recently become available in South Africa.

    BASF claims that these Pure Polyurea spray coat elastomers offer "outstanding features, such as excellent durability, abrasion resistance and high chemical resistance."

    In addition, Pure Polyurea also offers:
    •Zero volatile organic compounds;
    •No substances of concern;
    •Seamless and impervious membrane;
    •Flexible (420% elasticity);
    •Excellent adhesion;
    •Quick curing;
    •Excellent noise-absorption; and
    •Tolerant of high moisture and humid conditions during application.

    The tolerance to moisture and humidity during curing means that the coatings can be applied within a wider window of temperature and weather conditions than traditional coatings, BASF notes.

    BASF's system has proven successful in the following applications in Africa/Middle East.
    •Tank coatings and linings in the mining industry: Leaching, thickener and process tanks total of 13 740 sq.m coated in the DRC;
    •Flooring: Concrete flooring 500 sq.m in DRC;
    •Roofing: Power station in Limpopo, South Africa
    •Parking decks: 800 sq.m St. Josephstraat Q-park, Netherlands;
    •Waste water treatment linings: 450 sq.m furnace cooling reservoirs, South Africa;
    •Fuel storage and containment: 360 sq.m oil bund wall and ROM bin, South Africa.
    •Recreational effects: 300 sq.m theme park props, South Africa
    •Refrigeration equipment: 800 sq.m kitchen chillers/freezers, Dubai.
