Villach, Austria -- A wood-framed house has been completely coated with polyurea for the first time ever, according to the company that did it.
Villach-based polyurea systems house Hercules used Hertec 1150/80 FR polyurea material to coat the building. The aim was to create an ecologically sound structure and Tomz said it constituted a world first.
Hubert Tomz, the company’s ceo, said it had been working on formulating mixtures between an aromatic or aliphatic isocyanate and a resin blend component (polyamine) for the past five years.
He also said fire retardant systems were used and the building was also insulated with a closed cell PU foam.
The Hertec Polyurea System House was completed in December 2014.
