Bassano del Grappa, Italy - Light weight, wear resistant, Polyurethane tyres are being used in agricultural seeding machines in three-way Italian collaboration.
MECAPLAST an injection moulding company, thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer maker API, and Tecnostamp which makes moulds have come together to create the Green Life Tire.
API says that the tyre is an innovative green alternative to the tyres currently manufactured in vulcanized rubber. The tyres are is widely used in precision seeding machines to position seeds correctly and then compressing and covering the seeds in the ground.
API says that polyurethane tyres are much more wear resistant than rubber tyres. Additionally, the tyres are made from API's Apilon 52 family of material which, the company says makes the tyres 100% recyclable
