Osnabrück, Germany - Polyvanced has received an "excellent response" to its Design & Media Award 2011, the plastic tubing manufacturer said in a 30 Nov news release.
The company said the award is a way for it to promote tubing technology. Tubing can be used to create interesting effects in fashion, and there are many possibilities for doing so - from tubing hats and capes through decorative fashion jewellery to belts and sandals made of tubing, polyvanced said.
"How can tubing be used in the fashion industry? We are looking for creative answers to this question. The best ideas will be rewarded with a professional photo shoot and assistance in putting the design into practice. Over 40 students at the Hannover University of Applied Sciences have already agreed to enter the competition," said Robert Mayr, polyvanced CEO.
The polyvanced Design & Media Award is awarded at irregular intervals and focuses on various aspects of tubing technology. This year's fashion competition is open to all entries that deal with this topic. Anyone who submits a design by 17 Feb 2012 may enter the competition, polyvanced said.
A specialist jury will evaluate the originality, aesthetics, and practicality of the entries. The winners will be announced in early March 2012.
Osnabrück-based polyvanced produces some 55 million metres of tubing per year for markets such as automation engineering, the bathroom fittings and construction industry, environmental technology and the automotive, health care, and leisure segments. The company currently employs over 130 people in Europe.
