Paris - In order to meet demand for leaner approaches to sealing aircraft, PPG Industries' aerospace business has initiated its Customised Sealant Solutions (CSS) programme to team with customers and develop product concepts to optimise and simplify the process of sealing aircraft, the company said recently.
CSS products, according to PPG, are supplied in "unique forms" and provide traditional sealing, corrosion-inhibiting and smoothing characteristics while affording significant labour time and improvements in quality, the company said. Bill Keller, PPG Aerospace global segment manager for sealants, said that customised sealants should grow to about 10-15 percent of all sealant applications in the next 10 years.
"When a customer comes to us with a particular need, we develop a customised sealant solution that adds value," Keller said.
New sealant products from PPG Aerospace include Semfoam dry bay foam which is made with reticulated polyurethane foam, die-cut to specific dimensions, impregnated with sealant, and delivered premixed and frozen, the company said.
PPG will be presenting its CSS range on Stand D57, Hall 2B, during the Paris Air Show 15-21 June at Le Bourget Exhibition Centre. (RD)
