Oconomowoc, Wisconsin-Premold Corp. is working with Design Concepts Inc. and SourceOne Automation llc to create a new reaction injection molding press that will allow the firm greater moulding flexibility and efficiency.
Oconomowoc-based Premold is developing a 40-tonne RIM press that will allow the company to set up new moulds faster and reduce its manufacturing time and costs.
Engineers and specialists from Design Concepts of Madison, Wisconsin, and SourceOne of Stoughton, Wisconsin, are helping with the machine, which will use a hydraulic rotary actuator to manoeuvre moulds weighing as much as 4700 pounds, improving operator access.
The press will also have 180-degree horizontal action for accessing parts and a tilting motion of 105 degrees.
Premold expects to finish building the press by the end of this year.
