Cork, Republic of Ireland -- Irish news sources are reporting a sit-in over the Christmas holiday period by 32 former workers at the Vita Cortex plant in Cork. Closure of the plant, which made a range of foams for the furniture and packaging sectors, was announced in September 2011, and took effect before Christmas.
The workers are protesting about redundancy payments, which the reports say that Vita Cortex is unable to make. The Cork site was shut to attempt to ensure the survival of the company's other sites in Athlone and Belfast.
