Brighouse, UK - UK product development group Xpress Product Development Group Ltd is using a new stereolithography resin from DSM Somos called WaterClear Ultra, as a stereolithography resin.
"The WaterClear Ultra material is by far the clearest SLA material I have seen. It also builds very well and offers great accuracy," commented Miguel Diaz, director of Mexico Manufacturing Operations for XPDG, in a DSM Somos statement.
Diaz indicated that XPDG will use the material for stand-alone stereolithography parts and also for master patterns for urethane cast parts.
The company has traditionally used "hand-polished CNC-machined acrylic patterns for clear and tinted urethane castings. Now we will also be able to use WaterClear Ultra SLA patterns," he added.
"WaterClear Ultra has been developed with an entirely new approach to clarity. It combines high clarity with extremely low colour, high dimensional accuracy and other performance features," said Brian Bauman, product manager for DSM Somos. He described it as suitable for producing lenses, housings, packaging models, fluid flow analysis models and master patterns.
UK-based XPDG is a manufacturing and product-development firm serving the consumer products, healthcare and industrial equipment industries.
