Rochester, New York - A US supermarket chain has recalled its own brand flour because it may contain small polyurethane balls.
Wegmans Food Markets said on 20 Feb that the 7-9 mm blue PU balls were from the product sifting equipment and are made of flexible food grade material. The company added that the balls were not sharp and, because of their colour and size, would be easily seen in the flour.
The recalled product, all-purpose bleached flour, was sold between 24 Dec 2012 and 15 Feb 2013.
