Shanghai, China – Longhua New Material, a maker of flexible, CASE and polymer polyols (POP), showcased its low VOC, low viscosity products at the PU China 2018 show.
The new POP products were developed last year. They are designed to have emissions at least 70% lower than the average of their Chinese competitors, the company’s senior research and development engineer Tang Zhenying told UTECH-polyurethane.com.
One of the products has 3,500-4,500 mPa.s/25°C viscosity on 45% solid content. Another grade has 4,500-6,500 viscosity on 50% solid content, similar to comparable products made by international leaders, Tang added.
Based in Zibo, Shandong province, Longhua claims to be China’s largest maker of POP. The company said it sold nearly 900 kT in 2017. Last year POP accounted for 65% of the company’s total revenue. The segment is expected to take a larger share this year, said Tang.
Tang is bullish on growth driven by the automotive sector. But he noted that applications in new energy vehicles are developing slowly.
