Guangzhou, Guangdong – Jingzheng Equipment Manufacturing has been developing casting machinery for polyurethane bicycle frames as a replacement of carbon fiber materials, the company’s general manager Yan Jian told UTECH-polyurethane.com in an exclusive interview at PU China 2017.
‘China is a large bicycle country but it’s not strong in high-end manufacturing, such as in carbon fiber frames,’ said Yan. Polyurethane’s light weight and good mechanical properties make it a perfect replacement for existing materials, he added.
The company has been developing such machinery since 2016. ‘We’ve already made breakthrough in research, but our biggest concern is how to [get downstream manufacturers to] use it in mass production,’ he said.
Based in Xiangtan, Hunan, Jingzheng makes various types of machinery including foaming, casting, storage and pre-mixing equipment, and has been supplying DCPD casting machines to the automotive sector, the products of which are used in new energy vehicle by brands such as BYD and Geely.
Yan is also bullish on growth from the polyurethane railroad track bed segment, given China’s extensive railway network and its infrastructure projects in the Belt and Road areas.
