Nanjing, China - PU China is off to a successful start as organisers report one of the largest first day turnouts in the event's history.

The polyurethane conference and exhibition held annually in China brings international and domestic companies together to forge new business relationships and learn more about the industry.

Sue Rothwell, from organisers Crain Communications, publishers of Urethanes Technology International, said she was delighted with the turn out on the first day.

"The halls were flooded with visitors. Exhibitors have reported good business with deals being closed throughout the day," Rothwell said.

Huntsman Polyurethanes vice president Asia Pacific Kenny Pan said in an interview with Urethanes Technology International that he had had many good discussions at the event. He highlighted the attractiveness of the polyurethane industry in China, predicting double-digit growth to continue in the next five-to-ten years.

Wim Cambien, sales manager, catalysts and RAPs, from Umicore Specialty Materials, said his stand had seen many visitors and he expected "positives" to come from the event.

"We expect to support our sales with this," he emphasised, noting that the event provided good opportunities for the company to sit down with prospective clients to have technical discussions.

Visitors also had the opportunity to attend presentations at the concurrent conference, which included papers from Shell, SKC and Impianti OMS.

PU China is being held in Nanjing International Expo Centre, from 10-12 Sept.
