PU-covered stent launched by Biotronik

Lake Oswego, Oregon – Biotronik has launched a new coronary stent system in the US. The PK Papyrus device is designed for the emergency treatment of acute coronary perforations.

The ultra-thin stent is covered with an electrospun polyurethane membrane. The company hopes it will reduce the high rate of adverse outcomes associated with coronary artery perforations.

‘Biotronik’s covered stent is designed to save more lives and to help avoid emergency bypass surgeries, which come with increased risk for patients and can be costly for hospitals,’ said Ryan Walters, the company’s president.
