Ludwigshafen, Germany – BASF has highlighted where polyurethane materials could be used in the battery assemblies of electric vehicles.
Uses range from those that are, apparently, very simple for established materials such as anti-vibration pads and battery mounts made from Cellasto polyurethane elastomer foam, to flame-retardant grades of Elastollan that have been designed to over-mould busbars that take power out of the batteries.
Elastolit adhesives to ensure the battery units fit well into the housing also feature on the website. https://battery.basf-vcar.com/
