Barnsley, UK – CTM UK has expanded its manufacturing and stock facilities at its home in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The company supplies PU processing equipment to customers in a wide range of sectors, including machinery from Graco, as well as machinery under its own Varithane brand.
The £30k expansion was backed by a business productivity grant, with the support of the local council’s Enterprising Barnsley programme. This covered a third of the project’s cost.
The company has added a 100m2 mezzanine floor to its existing 500m2 unit. This has enabled it to restructure the workshop, streamline production, and expanded its storage space, increasing the volume of spare parts it can hold in stock.
The company estimates that this will allow them to work on more projects concurrently, speed up builds, and increase productivity by 45-60%. It will also allow it to take on much larger system builds.
The changes to stock holding capabilities have already boosted its spare parts, repairs and servicing business. Nearly 30% more orders are now being despatched daily, it said.
“Very few businesses worldwide do what we do, and we’ve built a global reputation over 30 years,” said director Shane Wootton. “We’ve always been committed to innovation and investment, and the only thing holding us back from doing more at this stage has been a shortage of space. So, this expansion and restructuring of our site is a huge bonus. It has allowed us to optimise workflow and dramatically increase productivity.”
The company, set up in 1990, supplies standard and bespoke polyurethane, elastomer and epoxy resin processing equipment, technical support, repairs and parts to a range of industries, including automotive, refrigeration, insulation and prosthetic limb manufacture. Its R&D team has developed innovations in bespoke system building over the past 20 years, it said, and the company has gained clients across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas.
